Stitzel-Weller was a former distillery founded in 1935 before closing in 1972. A number of notable brands have been produced under the Stitzel-Weller name including W.L Weller, Old Fitzgerald, Pappy Van Winkle and Old Weller to name a few. 
The Stitzel-Weller brand was eventually sold due to a depression in the sales of Whiskey with the popularity of other spirits growing. After going through many different mergers and acquisitions, Diageo decided to re-open the facility in 2014. As of 2017, the site of Stitzel-Weller is mainly used for aging with one still in operation.  They produce around a barrel a day which is mainly used for experimentation and research.
