An incredible old example of perhaps the first bottling of Very Old Fitzgerald bottled at 10 years old vs. the regular 8. The 10 year old would later be named “Very Xtra Old” starting around 1962. Distilled and bottled at the Stitzel-Weller distillery in 1957 while it was still being run by the legendary Julian ‘Pappy’ Van Winkle. Bottled in Bond at 100 proof, just the way Pappy wanted it. 
Pappy Van Winkle retired from the distillery in 1964 and passed away in 1965. His son Julian Van Winkle Jr. continued to supervise the brand through 1972.
