The Family Reserve Rye is from the first US market release and presumed to have been distilled at Medley in Owensboro, with Cream of Kentucky rye from Bernheim blended through it after it was tanked in 2004. As of 2018, the rye batches have been bottled using whiskey distilled at Buffalo Trace, after the original reseres were finally depleted in 2016.
This release predates the Van Winkle partnership with Buffalo Trace, and was bottled at the Old Commonwealth distillery in Lawrenceburg by Julian Van Winkle III.
