Tomintoul Scotch Whisky Virtual Tasting Event

When: Thursday 25th March 2021
Time: 8PM AEST
Where: Zoom Video Conference

Robert Fleming the Tomintoul Master Distiller will be sharing his tasting notes as he samples the core range and few rare whiskies in a Virtual Tasting Event. Robert has whisky in his blood, not many of his colleagues in the whisky industry can say they have been working as the Master Distiller at the same distillery for 3 decades. Robert started at the Tomintoul Distillery in Speyside in 1990, he had already gained experience in several distilleries before since 1974. Robert will share his wisdom, his knowledge and the history of the Tomintoul distillery whilst enjoying and sharing some of the core expressions from this Speyside distillery.

Tomintoul distillery is built in the highest village in the highlands of Scotland and can sometimes be very hard to access due to the road being blocked with snow and ice in the winter. However hard it is to get here the storage facilities at Tomintoul are huge and boast a warehouse that can accomodate ten million litres of malt within the grounds. The water source is the local Ballantruan Spring and with this water they produce about 3,000,000 litres of spirit annually. The current owners are Angus Dundee plc and the distillery has four stills to produce the spirit. This spirit is mainly used and a very valuable contribution to Whyte and MacKay’s blends.

You should expect a light bodied and smooth single malt, not very complex and great for after dinner. This single malt is an excellent whisky to start your whisky journey and enjoy for many decades later with vast choice of age statements any whisky enthusiast would want in their collection.

Robert will be taking us through five whiskies from the Tomintoul core range and then complete the journey with a taste of the release special “Robert Fleming 30th Anniversary” editions which was released during 2020, for which the jubilee himself selected the casks. Robert will discussing the process used at the distillery as well as what tasting notes we should appreciate from the whiskies. The virtual tasting event will be streamed live through Zoom conferencing online. You will be given unique log in details to attend the event.
