Volume: 700ml ABV: 46.8% Age: 18 Years Old Country: Scotland
Founded in 1896 the Tamdhu Distillery was created by a group of assemblers who were looking to engage in their own whisky production. Situated in Knockando, Banffshire, Scotland the distilleries name comes from the Gaelic for little dark hill. The distillery operated for many years before being closed between 1927 and 1947. Boasting 3 wash stills and 3 spirits stills the distillery produces around 4 million litres of pure alcohol per year, this is not a small distillery. Owned and operated by Ian MacLeod Distillers it is primarily used for producing blended whisky such as Famous Grouse, J & B and Cutty Sark. The majority of its single malt is now being matured in European oak or American oak ex sherry casks.
This limited edition Tamdhu 18 years old whisky is extremely well made. Using a combination of American and European oak casks that previously held Spanish Oloroso sherry. No added colour , No chill-filtration and bottled at 46.8% ABV. This whisky delivers big bold and exciting sherry characteristics.
