Rosebank 1990 Aged 30 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Release 1 (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 48.6% Age: 30 Years Old Country: Scotland
The Rosebank Distillery is situated in Camelon on the banks of the Forth of Clyde canal between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It was named Rosebank after the roses that grew along the banks of the canal. Records show that the distillery was first opened in 1798 but the site and the ownership was a little unclear. The whisky produced here was considered ‘premium’ producing spirit for many years till its closure in 1993. The reason behind the closure was the necessary upgrade required to meet European standards. In 2017 Ian MacLeod Distillers announced that they had acquired the Rosebank Whisky trademark from Diageo and the site from Scottish Canals in order to re-establish Rosebank Whisky by building a new distillery and re-commencing production in the old style. Rosebank Distillery is open again and as we wait for the new release we can enjoy some of the older spirit that’s been maturing away quietly.
This Rosebank 1990 Vintage aged 30 years is the first in a series of annual limited releases with only 4,350 bottles being made available for worldwide purchase. It has been bottled using casks laid down in 1990 consisting of 62% refill sherry butts and 38% refill Bourbon hogsheads. Spirit distilled just a few years before the distillery closed in 1993.
Bottled at 48.6% ABV. Rosebank is also giving the first 200 people to scan the QR code on the neck collar of their Release One bottle the the opportunity to enjoy a dram of Release Two.
