Michters 20 Year Single Barrel Bourbon is a very rare and highly sought-after cask strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
While Michter’s regularly sample all their barrels to see how their whiskey is aging, they pay even extra special attention to their barrels once they are over 17 years old. At Michter’s they consider 17 to 20 years the “Fork In The Road Point” when certain barrels of whiskey can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It is these particular barrels that our Master Distiller Dan McKee personally selects for our very limited bottling of Michter’s 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
It is made from the highest quality American corn and aged for 20 years in a hand selected charred white oak barrel until it meets the Michter’s standard. It is further mellowed by the Michter’s signature filtration method.
This 20 year old is the 2019 release, presented in an elegant tall bottle with cork and wax seal was released from barrel No. #L19H1439. Only 440 bottles of this were released, this is bottle #114.
Tasting Notes: “It’s an elegant bourbon with lots of depth and cascading flavors,” said Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco. Official tasting notes from the brand tell us to expect “intense notes of black cherry, rich molasses, honeysuckle, roasted pecans, [and] toasted charred oak.”
