L & G 1936 Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon 100 Proof Pint
A fantastic example of pre-war whisky, distilled at Labrot & Graham in 1938. The distillery has a rich history; it was built by Elijah Pepper in the early 1800’s and lists James Crow, of Old Crow fame amongst its former Master Distillers, and Colonel E H Taylor also managed it for a time.
The distillery was closed down during Prohibition and the stocks sold as medicinal spirit by Frankfort Distillery, but was revived in 1935 by R A Baker under the Labrot & Graham name. This whiskey was distilled less than a year later, and bottled in bond by Brown-Forman in 1942 after they acquired the distillery in 1940.
The distillery lay idle again for many years after this was produced, however is operational again today, better known as Woodford Reserve.
