Jura 1976 Feith A’ Chaorainn Scotch Whisky

$1,799.99

A very rare expression from Isle of Jura, named Feith A’ Chaorainn, which translates to ‘The lands around the Rowan’. The Rowan Tree on the Island of Jura is believed to bring good luck, so obviously naming a whisky after such a tree can only be a good thing! The whisky itself was distilled in 1976 and matured in three ex-bourbon barrels which were married together and bottled in 2011 at 35 years old. Only 500 bottles were produced.Nose: Fantastically rich, spiced oak, zesty citrus and honey, supported by vanilla and caramel. Subtle smoke wafts in from the sea.Palate: As you would expect from a 35 year old whisky, the drying oak has had great influence on this dram, followed by dried mango and sultana. Crumbly biscuits and more smoke give great balance.Finish: The finish is quite long and fairly dry.
