The Glen Keith Distillery is quite a modern distillery founded in 1958. The distillery was the first to open after the great whisky crash of 1898. Founded by Chivas Brothers it is located in the beautiful town of Keith in Speyside, Scotland. The distillery sits very close to one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, Strathisla. Chivas use the distillery to produce whisky for their blends mainly Passport and 100 Pipers. The distillery was mothballed in 1999 and reopened in 2013 when it was renovated.
Càrn Mòr is an independent bottling label produced by the family owned and operated Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. Morrisons own the Aberargie distillery in Perth, Scotland which is now 3 years old (January 2021). The company was originally started by an ex employee of the independent bottling company Scottish Liqueur Centre when in 2008 he gathered a group of whisky enthusiasts and began bottling and selling whisky. The Gaelic name Càrn Mòr is given to the ninth highest mountain in Scotland which sits on the Northwest Highlands. The English translation is Great Peak.
Released as part of the Strictly Limited range this BenRiach was distilled in 2013 and sat maturing in ex-sherry barrels before being finished in a virgin oak. It was bottled by Càrn Mòr in 2021 with only 672 bottles being produced at an ABV of 47.5%.
Tasting Notes
Salted caramel and juicy tropical fruits leave a mouth-watering finish.
