Dalwhinnie Aged 30 Years 2019 Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Volume: 700ml      ABV: 54.7%      Age: 30 Years      Country: Scotland

The Dalwhinnie Distillery has a long history dating back to 1897 when the product was first known as Strathspey whisky. Owned by Diageo it produces around 2 million litres of spirit annually. The distillery was completely refurbished in 1986 and then a visitors centre created 5 years later.

The name Dalwhinnie means ‘meeting place’ in Gaelic and this distillery is the second highest in Scotland, sitting 1073 feet above sea level. In most publications it will be referred to as the highest but Braeval distillery near Glenlivet is the highest recorded at 1665 feet above see level. A distillery so high is very unusual as one of the main ingredients is water which generally flows downhill being why most distilleries are found in glens or on the coast.

This Diageo Special Release bottling was matured in a combination of refill ex-Bourbon Hogshead barrels and ex-Sherry Butts for 3 decades. It boast a more elegant addition to the range in 2019. This whisky brings a peak of perfection to the normal single malt produced at this distillery. Presenting moorland aromas and smoothly sweet, yet peppery and defining Dalwhinnie character.
