The Ben Nevis Distillery is named after the highest point in the British Isles sitting at 1,345 metres above sea level in the western highlands of Scotland. Located in the town of Fort William. Founded by ‘Long John’ Mcdonald in 1825 and currently owned by the Japanese company, Nikka Whisky Distilling since 1989. The majority of the 2,000,000 litres produced per annum is tankered to Japan for use in various blends.
After carefully tasting 16 different single cask whiskies from the Ben Nevis distillery we decided on three unique expressions. This expression is bottled at cask strength and it was matured in an American Oak ex-bourbon barrel for 16 years. The Ben Nevis distillery create some amazing whisky but this offering of a 16 year old single cask is extremely rare and should not be missed. Distilled in December 1998 and bottled March 2015 by Douglas of Drumlanrig this single cask single malt is bottled at 51.7% abv and is limited to 296 bottles.
