Balblair 25 Years Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: 25 Years Old Country: Scotland
It is not only playing a big part in the movie ‘Angels Share’ that has made this distillery famous but the exceptional whisky it produces. This distillery was built in 1790 however was built on a site that had sited a distillery 40 years prior. This area of the Dornoch Firth is well known for its ancient archaeology. The water source for this distillery is a burn (or stream for the Australian readers) called Allt Dearg which helps this distillery produce 1,330,000 litres of whisky per year. This is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and has been built in an amazingly scenic part of the country which boasts peaty streams and lush green fields. From this distillery you should expect a wonderfully light and fresh whisky with a nutty aftertaste and clean finish, a delightful memorable whisky.
This core range expression from Balblair is a big bold full bodied dram. After being traditionally matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks it is then transferred to Spanish oak ex-sherry butts for a second ageing period. After no less than 25 years it was bottled at 46% alcohol by volume. It might be part of the core range but it’s extremely hard to find these days due to its popularity.
