Ardbeg 1998 Still Young Single Malt
Butterscotch, Caramac bars and coaldust dominate, but there is an emergent savory note as well. Absolutely lovely.
Very drinkable despite its youth and strength. Slightly less bumptious and more approachable than its predecessor, Very Young – but still with the big hot spices, coal tar soap and citrus character.
Long, tingling, warming, astringent. Spices, white pepper and chili still throw their weight around and burst in flashes across the tastebuds.
Peaty aroma, but hints of classic Ardbeg limes. Tar creaminess and pepperiness in the mouthfeel. Flavors of fruit, vanilla, toffee apples and treacle toffee. Sweet, malty and smoky.
