1954 Gordon & MacPhail Strathisla
Distilled in 1954 at the Strathisla distillery and bottled by Gordon and MacPhail. Matured in first fill and refill sherry casks, the producers describe this as an “after dinner dram”.
The nose is quite sweet with notes of fino sherry and winter spice. Some hay and green grassy tones emerge with a buttery character. The palate is quite full with a good cereal sweetness. There are notes of sherried peels and calves leather with a touch of pine oil and sap. There are hints of charred oak with a developing smoke. The finish is long and smoked.
