Yamazaki 12 Year Old
12 year old malt whisky from the first whisky distillery to be built in Japan. A sweet, full bodied, fruity and slightly smoky whisky. The supplies of this due to popularity are pretty scarce so grab it when you can!
Staff Tasting Notes
Nose: Sherbet followed by a damp earthiness. Then sweet vanilla. Gets quite woody as well, like the woodwork room at school. After a while stewed apples and butterscotch. With water – shortbread, grassier than before and icing sugar
Palate: Sweet at first – cookie dough and then ginger biscuits – sweetness gradually gives way to spiciness. Pepper, aniseed – bitter sweet, cooling on the tip of the tongue. Gets sweeter again like white chocolate also grassy. Very long finish. With water similar but softer, spiciness much more restrained, grass, apples.
